PAUL WORDLEY - HEAD COACH (Phooey)

With over 40 years of martial arts experience, Paul Wordley brings unmatched depth, passion, and leadership to the role of Head Instructor. Starting his journey at the age of six, Paul has dedicated his life to mastering and teaching a range of combat disciplines. He holds two Dan grade black belts in Full Contact Kickboxing and Thai Boxing, as well as a 1st Dan black belt in Sport Karate. He is a fully qualified instructor in both Full Contact Kickboxing and Sport Karate. Paul has also trained with kick boxing and Muay Thai greats over the years and has gained a wealth of knowledge (as well as a few bruises)

Paul’s teaching style blends the power and intensity of full contact kick boxing and Muay Thai with technicality and skill. As he puts it, "I believe all of these styles can complement each other in order to create a system that is simple and effective." His approach is practical, dynamic, and rooted in decades of hands-on experience.

What truly sets Paul apart is his commitment to building more than just a martial arts club. He’s passionate about creating a family within a club — a place where kids and adults alike can grow in confidence, make friends, and feel supported. Whether it’s encouraging young students, empowering women, or helping adults find strength and discipline, Paul leads with heart, vision, and dedication.

TYE WORDLEY - Junior Assistant Instructor

Tye Wordley has been training in martial arts since the age of four and is already making a strong impact as a Junior Assistant Instructor. Growing up surrounded by the sport, he has trained extensively in Sport Karate, Full Contact Kickboxing, and Thai-boxing — both on the mats and alongside his father, Head Instructor Paul Wordley.

At just 14 years old, Tye is currently one belt away from earning his black belt, which he is set to take in December 2025. Tye’s quiet focus, strong work ethic, and technical ability make him stand out — earning the respect of both his peers and the adults he trains alongside

Whether he’s assisting in class, training with intensity, or encouraging others on their journey, Tye represents the future of the club — respectful and passionate about martial arts.

Mateusz waskowski

My journey in martial arts began with a childhood fascination sparked by Enter the Dragon. That early inspiration led me to train Shotokan Karate in early years, Krav Maga as a teenager, before fully immersing myself in Jeet Kune Do—the art and philosophy founded by Bruce Lee. I had the privilege of training under Sifu Wojciech Adamusik at the only authorised Jeet Kune Do Academy in Poland, where I studied Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do, Kali Arnis, Combat Submission Wrestling, and Muay Thai. Over the years, I achieved instructor level and earned a second-degree brown belt.

My development has been further shaped by seminars with Larry Hartsell (one of Bruce Lee’s original students) and Sifu Frank Burczynski (Full Instructor under Guro Dan Inosanto). I’ve taught beginner classes for both adults and children, focusing on continuous growth and the art of self-expression through martial arts.

After a long break, I returned to active training with HKP Martial Arts, an experience that reignited my passion for combat sports, fitness, and teaching, while gaining my red belt with HKP. This renewed focus continues to drive my dedication to personal development and sharing the martial arts journey with others.

I have been practicing martial arts for 29 years, focusing mainly on Sport Karate and Kickboxing. Over that time, I’ve achieved my 2nd Dan in Sport Karate and have been an instructor for nearly 20 years. Martial arts is something I believe everyone should try—not just for the physical and cardio benefits, but for the mental resilience and strength it builds.

I’ve known Paul for many years (and shared more than a few injuries with him!), and I can honestly say he’s one of the most passionate and dedicated martial artists I’ve had the pleasure of training with. He’s also a great friend. Paul instills confidence and enthusiasm in everyone he teaches, and the people who train with him share the same positive energy and values.

Thanks, Paul, for being authentic and giving us the excitement to train hard every single week. 😎

Lisa – AKA Mrs Phooey, Semi-Willing Sidekick & Paparazzi

Lisa—also known as Mrs Phooey (or just “Paul’s wife” when things go wrong)—is the not-so-silent force lurking behind the scenes. You’ll spot her dashing into class with a camera like a ninja on a caffeine buzz, snapping photos, filming proud moments, and occasionally muttering, “Why am I doing this again?”

She doesn’t do everything—just enough to make it look like she does. From wrangling tech stuff to pretending to know where things are, Lisa is the unofficial Head of “Things That Need Doing Eventually.”

Basically, she’s the glue, the giggles, and the gentle eye-roll behind Paul’s grand dojo vision—and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Jenny – Red Black Belt & Grading Day Hero

Jenny trains in our Mixed Adult class and comes to life on grading days—armed with pads, pens, and pure efficiency. She’s the red black belt whirlwind behind the scenes: tallying scores, fetching forgotten things, and generally being our trusty right hand woman.

Josh – Brown Belt & Certified Legend Sidekick

Josh is a brown belt who trains in our Mixed Adult class, but he also moonlights as a pad-holding superhero in our Legend classes. Whether he’s helping the kids with their techniques or bravely surviving a tornado of tiny ninjas, Whether he’s holding pads like a champ or bravely navigating a swarm of high-energy kids, Josh is the steady hand in the middle of the mayhem. Calm, patient, and always ready with a grin. Enthusiasm has no bounds.
