HKP's First Ever Grading – September 2025: Four gradings, Lots of Smiles, Zero Drama!
September 2025 will go down in HKP Martial Arts history as the month we officially became "proper" – our very first grading ceremony took place, and honestly, we couldn't be prouder of how it went.
After already being established for over 3 years, our new club identity used our students who were ready to test their skills, show their progress, and hopefully not trip over their own feet in the process. Spoiler alert: everyone absolutely smashed it!
The Magnificent Four Gradings
Mini Gradings Our youngest warriors stepped up to the plate (or should we say, sport hall?) with the kind of confidence that only comes from knowing you've put in the work. Watching these little minis demonstrate their techniques with serious faces and even more serious determination was nothing short of inspiring.

The Legends Gradings These students have earned their class name, and boy did they prove it during grading! Every technique executed with precision, every form performed with the kind of focus that would make a monk jealous.

Mixed Adults Our adult showed exactly why we're so passionate about getting more grown-ups through our doors. The dedication, the improvement, the "I can't believe I just did that" moments – this is what martial arts is all about. (May have forgot to get a group photo at the end, but these guys did amazing, had to share an image!)

Ladies-Only Class The sisterhood came through in spectacular fashion! Watching these women support each other while absolutely nailing their grading requirements was the kind of energy that gives you goosebumps.

The Best Part? Everyone Passed!
Now, we're not saying we're easy markers (Paul's standards are definitely not negotiable), but when students put in the effort, show up consistently, and genuinely engage with their training, the results speak for themselves.
Every single student walked away with their new grade and – more importantly – with massive smiles on their faces. Because let's be honest, that's what it's really about. The belt is nice, but the confidence, the sense of achievement, and the "I actually did it!" feeling? That's priceless.
What Made It Special
This wasn't just about remembering techniques or testing skills. It was about our HKP family coming together to celebrate progress, effort, and the kind of personal growth that happens when you step outside your comfort zone and trust the process.
Paul's years of experience (and those three black belts) really showed as he guided each student through their grading with the perfect balance of challenge and encouragement. And his team behind him? Well, someone had to make sure everyone stayed hydrated, pad holders were ready and remembered to remind others to breathe!
